Keynote Speaker: Thomas Bastis

The University of Guelph Turf Class of 2018 are excited to host Superintendent Thomas Bastis from California Golf Club in San Francisco.

Thomas Bastis grew up in San Diego Calif. and graduated with a bachelor's degree in horticulture from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1995. He has been a superintendent for 20 years, with the last 15 at California Golf Club of San Francisco.

Bastis is a certified arborist, pest control advisor, certified irrigation auditor and the Turfnet/Syngenta 2010 Superintendent of the Year. He holds a qualified applicators license and C-27 landscape contractor license.

Bastis is a advocate of using new and upcoming technology alongside traditional maintenance practices to manage his course in the most environmentally and economically efficient manner. We can expect to hear the veteran superintendent to talk about topics like this and other industry trends.

Following the talk from Mr. Bastis, there will be appetizers and a cash bar.
