Many researchers and growers rely on weather data available online though the Weather.gc.ca [1] website.

We have recieved several questions lately about the weather station called "Guelph Turfgrass". Unfortuataely, the weather station has stopped recording air temperature.

The weather station at the Guelph Turfgrass Institute is operated by Environment Canada. When contacted, the response was:

"Since the evening of June 29th, 2021 the temperature sensor at Guelph Turfgrass started reporting anomalous readings. Therefore, the decsion was made to suppress the dissemination of incorrect data. Our technical team is aware of the problem and a technician will be on site in the next few weeks to troubleshoot and fix the problem."

Environment Canada is also in charge of the process to move the weather station to the new location. Please note that the Victoria Road location is 43°33'00.000" N, 80°13'00.000" W. The Latitute and Longitude will be updated on the Government of Canada website once the station has been moved to the new property on College Ave. The weather data will be comparable between the two sites since they are relatively close to each other.

For any other inquiries about the weather station you can email Environment Canada. [2]
